Introduction to the Florals

Flowers have always been a major influence in my mother’s creative development. She is an avid gardener and it only stood to reason that she would take her passion for flowers and try to capture them in her art. While the art in this section is inspirational due both to the subject matter and effusion of light and color, it is with the floral paintings that she really developed confidence and mastery with the mediums of watercolor and masa paper. In some of her earliest floral artwork (which is unfortunately not represented here) I remember her describing how it was at this time she developed the confidence to trust her creative intuition.
