Introduction to the Country People
During my mother's visit to Turkey, she began to build compositions stunning for their interwoven images; like the renowned Turkish carpets, her drawings "weave" form and content into a unique gestaltic whole. This may be the central theme of the creation series; the myriad of different images flow in and out of each other in a way both constructive and deconstructive to each other, but ultimately in a way that describes interdependence. Similar to the yin/yang symbols of eastern philosophy, her world is created by the black ink of form, and the forms that come alive in the white, untouched page.
